Motorcycle Insurance

Motorcycle Insurance is just an automobile insurance policy for a motorcycle. Most of the policy coverage will be the same or similar to those purchased with a car insurance policy. However, there are some areas to be concerned with. Most motorcycle accidents occur because the operator of the other vehicle did not see the motorcycle. Beyond the obvious step of doing all that you can to be visible to other operators, you need to concern yourself with your insurance protection.

If the motorcycle operator is at fault for the accident, there is not much help found in the motorcycle policy. Your "no-fault" Personal Injury Protection does not apply to motorcycles. only help you have available in the policy is the purchase of medical payment coverage. It is always a good idea to have medical insurance on your own or even a disability policy. Passenger liability must be specifically purchased in the insurance contract. Coverage for the passenger is not automatic.

However if the accident is the fault of another party, as is often the case, you can find help in your Massachusetts motorcycle policy. Specifically be sure that you have adequate uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. Then, in the event that you are injured by another motorist, you can collect from your own policy if you are unable to collect from the other party.

Finally, if the motorcycle is valuable or financed, you should consider physical damage coverage for the bike. If the bike is financed, you may not have a choice in this purchase.

We recognize the danger (and the fun) that is part of motorcycling. We want to make sure that you are adequately protected from the actions of another at fault party.
